The P1 Defender is a complete all-round body protector and exceeds the latest FIA safety specifications 8870-2018. It retains the industry-leading rib protection and comfort of the standard P1 while providing additional chest protection. The P1 Defender uses a unique composite manufacturing process to make the load distribution panels strong, light and thin. The plates feature carefully shaped profiles based on many years of experience in shaping individual custom pieces for riders with major rib problems. The plates distribute the loads to the stronger areas of the ribcage while relieving pressure on the lower ribs, which float and cannot withstand pressure. A very special shock foam is used inside the P1 Defender, which is intended to absorb shocks and is covered with Lycra for additional comfort. Despite the excellent protection, the Defender is extremely thin and fits perfectly between the body and the seat shell without being uncomfortable. By wearing the P1 Defender, the seat size usually does not have to be adjusted, which could lead to a poorer fit of the pelvis and thighs. |
